Each year, Taki Rua presents highly engaging and meaningful children's theatre show performed completely in te reo Māori, to thousands of school-children and people of all ages throughout Aotearoa. These shows are ideal for te reo Māori learners of all ages. Bring your whānau. Free to attend but numbers strictly limited so bookings essential.
As part of his exhibition Little Portals, Cris will be activating his sound installation of mechatronic letter boxes which will interact in real time with the musicians live in the gallery for this unique sound event.
Due to Wellington being at Alert Level 2, the artists have decided to cancel the final live activation that was scheduled for Saturday 26 June at 2pm. The gallery will remain open on Saturday until 4pm, so if you haven't seen the show it's still well worth the visit!
Performers Bianca Hyslop and Paige Shand will co-inhabit the gallery space to perform a live activation through the modality of dance. A performance that has been crafted specifically for the installation: Te Mauri o Pōhutu. Artworks by Bianca Hyslop, Rowan Pierce and Tūī Matira Ranapiri Ransfield.
As part Simon Cumings' exhibition Barnacles on the Balls of Industry, a sound performance will take place during the Cuba Dupa Festival.
Accepdance is a double bill of live performance by Pōneke-based emerging artists Otto Kosok and Amit Noy, in collaboration with emerging producer Christina Guieb, producer Liv Chan and lighting designer Elekis Poblete Teirney. They have been the recipients of the Toi Poneke Dance Residency 2021. They will be showcasing this new work as part of the NZ Fringe.
Marcus Jackson will be joined in performance by Elliot Vaughan and Glen Downie to close the exhibition. Drawing on and responding to the narrative of the installation, they will perform superimpositions of a series of works created during the residency period.
